TOUR ITINERARY:

DAY 1 TUESDAY: BROKEN HILL to BLINMAN
Collect you for the start of an adventure into the Outback through SA wheatbelt and red soil grazing country before arriving at Blinman in the northern Flinders Ranges.

DAY 2 WEDNESDAY: BLINMAN to MARREE
From Blinman our journey takes us on a leisurely tour through magnificent gorge country of the spectacular Flinders Ranges: the rugged mountain scenery, dense native vegetation, abundant wildlife and wildflowers (depending on favourable conditions) are a photographer’s paradise! Continue past Leigh Creek, Lyndhurst & Farina before arriving at Marree for the night.

DAY 3 THURSDAY: MARREE to BIRDSVILLE
From Marree we head north crossing the Cooper Creek floodplain on the famous Birdsville Track, continuing along the western edge of the Sturt Stony Desert. Finally we cross the border into Queensland, over the Diamantina River before reaching remote Birdsville. Our accommodation for the next 2 nights is Australia’s famous bush outpost the Birdsville Hotel-Motel.

DAY 4 FRIDAY: BIRDSVILLE
Morning tour of Birdsville, then more adventure as we head out to the Simpson Desert, which is Australia’s only true sandhill desert with ridges up to 30 metres high. No trip to Birdsville would be complete without marvelling at “Big Red”, the huge sandhill that marks the eastern boundary of the Simpson Desert.

DAY 5 SATURDAY: BIRDSVILLE to INNAMINCKA
From Birdsville we head south, crossing sandhills and gibber plains, pondering the vast loneliness and natural beauty of the Outback. Continue to the remote town of Innamincka in South Australia, on the peaceful Cooper Creek, where our base for the next 2 nights is the Innamincka Hotel Trading Post.

DAY 6 SUNDAY: INNAMINCKA
Easy day to take in the sights and history of Innamincka, situated in the Strzelecki Desert. Perhaps you fancy bird watching along the Cooper, lined with coolabah trees & stately river red gums, & home to nesting whistling kites & spoonbills, white corellas and tortoises - a wetland ecosystem in the middle of an unforgiving desert! Afternoon visit to the death sites of Burke and Wills.

DAY 7 MONDAY: INNAMINCKA to TIBOOBURRA via the “DIG TREE”
From Innamincka we head east to “Nappa Merrie” Station, site of the famous “Dig Tree”. Continue south crossing into NSW through the dingo fence, the longest netting fence in the world, then through Sturt National Park, home to a variety of wildlife. Travel to former gold-rush town of Tibooburra, the most remote in NSW, for overnight at Tibooburra Hotel.

DAY 8 TUESDAY: TIBOOBURRA to BROKEN HILL; DEPART BROKEN HILL
Final day of our “Outback Adventure” with departure from Tibooburra, heading south through open red-soil country and then the Barrier Ranges before arriving back in the “Silver City”, late afternoon at the end of a unique tour. Transfer to accommodation or departure point for onward travel.
