TOUR ITINERARY:
Day 1 Monday
Arrive in Broken Hill on Outback Explorer.
You will be met by Host escorted to accommodation.
Day 2 Tuesday (LB, L, D)
Broken Hill to Tibooburra
Travel north towards the remote “Corner Country”. After lunch, head towards the tiny town of Milparinka and historic Depot Glen. Continue to Tibooburra, the most remote town in NSW. After dinner spend some time star-gazing.
Day 3 Wednesday (LB, L, D)
Sturt National Park & Cameron Corner
Wake to the sound of Outback silence. After breakfast, travel through spectacular Sturt National Park. Continue through stunning red sandhill country to the dingo fence and Cameron Corner where SA, QLD and NSW meet. Return to Tibooburra for overnight stay.
Day 4 Thursday (LB, L, D)
Wilderness to White Cliffs
From Tibooburra head southeast to the opal fields of White Cliffs, lunching enroute at one of the many beautiful dry creeks which cross the countryside. White Cliffs is unique – a tiny community which lives underground. Accommodation tonight is the Underground Motel.
Day 5 Friday (LB, L, D)
White Cliffs – Mutawintji National Park – Broken Hill
Visit underground museums and galleries, explore White Cliffs – maybe fossick for your own bit of opal. Travel to Mutawintji National Park – a place of dramatic scenery, prolific birdlife, crystal clear rock pools and ancient Aboriginal art. Lunch in the National park before returning to Broken Hill. On return from Corner Country Adventure tour check into accommodation for next four nights and touring with Silver City Tours.
Day 6 Saturday (LB, D)
City Sights and Heritage
This morning enjoy the City Sights and Heritage tour. The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore the “Silver City” at your own pace.
Day 7 Sunday (LB, D)
Silverton Ghost Town & Sunset Sculptures
This morning you visit Australia’s liveliest ghost town and setting for many movies. See craft centres, galleries and museums, and the historical Silverton Hotel. In the afternoon you will visit the Sculpture Symposium at sunset.
Day 8 Monday (LB, L, D)
Wetlands Cruise, Menindee & Kinchega National Park
Enjoy a leisurely tour around the Menindee Lakes scheme. Travel to Menindee and on to Kinchega National Park. Relax on a cruise through the wetlands aboard the “River Lady”.
Day 9 Tuesday (LB)
You will be transferred to rail for return trip on Outback Explorer to Sydney.
